BMHCC (the “System”) was founded in 1912 as a 150-bed hospital. With the mission of a three-fold ministry of Christ – healing, preaching, and teaching – BMHCC has since grown into one of the premier health systems in the United States. At one point, BMHCC was the largest privately-owned hospital in the country. The System today has a network of 22 hospitals with 3,500+ beds. BMHCC also serves its communities through a variety of outpatient centers, including 5 medical centers, 135 clinics, and 27 specialty facilities. In FY2019, BMHCC recorded more than 118,000 discharges, 850,000 outpatient visits and 548,000 emergency department visits across the System. BMHCC providers performed more than 70,000 surgeries and nearly 13,000 total deliveries. The System has 4,625 active affiliated physicians and licensed providers and 17,125 full-time employees. The System offers many unparalleled services and locations for the region including: The Baptist Women’s Hospital, the only freestanding women’s hospital in the region; Baptist Reynolds Hospice House, the area’s first residential hospice facility; and Baptist Cancer Center, one of only 12 centers recognized by the National Cancer Center’s Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP) as a leading center on discrepancies in cancer care clinical research.
